Jessberger JP-810.8 Air-Operated Diaphragm Pump ¼" 7 l/min — ATEX Zone 2
- Air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump, ATEX Zone 2 certified — no electrical ignition source in the fluid zone
- Three housing materials: PP, POM and PVDF — each with matched standard diaphragm and seal configuration
- Flow up to 7 l/min, viscosity up to 5,000 mPas, passes solids to 2 mm — ¼" BSP connections
- Self-priming to 9.8 m wet suction lift — runs dry without damage, no mechanical seal
- Adjustable flow via air pressure (max. 6 bar) — requires no electrical supply or speed controller
The JP-810.8 is the most compact model in the Jessberger JP-810 AODD pump series — designed for controlled, low-volume transfer where precision matters more than throughput. At 7 l/min and ¼" BSP connections, it fits naturally into laboratory benches, analytical environments and small-batch production lines where a full-sized pump would be oversized. Three housing materials are available: PP, POM and PVDF, covering reagent-grade aqueous chemicals, food-contact and fuel-compatible media through to concentrated oxidising acids.
Purpose
The AODD operating principle means compressed air alternates between two chambers, driving a pair of flexible diaphragms back and forth. No electric motor contacts the fluid zone — making the JP-810.8 inherently safe for flammable and explosive media classified for ATEX Zone 2. The pump is fully self-priming, can run dry without damage and handles media containing suspended solids up to 2 mm. For applications involving high-viscosity media that require pre-heating before transfer, the pump pairs well with a HeatXperts drum heater to reduce viscosity to pumpable levels. Where stricter Zone 1 certification is required, the JP-810.8 Conductive version with carbon-filled housing is available as a separate product.
Selecting your housing
Housing selection determines chemical compatibility and dictates the standard internal configuration. All three housings for the JP-810.8 use an NBR/PTFE composite diaphragm with PTFE ball valves — the housing material and seat material differ by choice. PP is the all-round choice for acids, alkalis and most aqueous media — standard configuration uses PP seats. PVDF handles highly aggressive media including strong oxidising acids and halogenated solvents that would compromise PP — standard configuration uses PVDF seats. POM (polyoxymethylene) offers good resistance to fuels, oils, hydrocarbons and alcohols where PP is not suitable — standard configuration uses POM seats. Key features
- AODD operating principle — no electrical components in the fluid path, inherently safe for flammable media
- Dry-running capable — no mechanical seal, no damage if air supply continues with empty chamber
- Self-priming — pulls liquid from 3 m dry or 9.8 m wet suction lift without manual priming
- Passes solids to 2 mm — ball-check valve design tolerates particulate media
- Adjustable flow and delivery head via inlet air pressure — no frequency inverter required
- Non-lubricated air operation — no oil separator required in the air supply line
- Separable manifold — allows two different media to be pumped simultaneously
- Easy field maintenance — modular design, standardised spare parts kit available
- Available in PP, POM and PVDF housing — matched diaphragm and seat configuration per material

Typical media by housing
- PP: dilute acids, alkalis, detergents, aqueous chemical solutions, water treatment chemicals
- PVDF: concentrated acids, oxidising agents, halogenated solvents, aggressive cleaning agents
- POM: fuels, oils, hydrocarbons, alcohols, non-aggressive solvents
Applications
- Transfer of reagents, solvents and acids in laboratory and R&D environments
- Small-batch pharmaceutical compounding and filling in ATEX Zone 2 settings
- Analytical dosing — controlled, low-flow transfer of hazardous or reactive media
- Quality control sampling from small containers and cans
- Filling vials, bottles and small vessels where precise, adjustable output is required
- Offshore and process industry applications requiring a compact, intrinsically safe pump
Operational Requirements
- Air supply must be clean, dry and non-lubricated — do not use lubricated air (damages internal seals)
- Inlet air pressure must not exceed 6 bar — operating above rated pressure reduces diaphragm life
- Can be run dry without damage — no minimum flow requirement
- Ensure fluid connection piping is adequately supported — do not use the pump housing as a pipe anchor
- If the pump is stalled (air on, no flow), the diaphragm is under constant load — avoid prolonged stall conditions
- Verify chemical compatibility for the specific medium and temperature before commissioning
