Jessberger JP-810.250 Air-Operated Diaphragm Pump 1¼" 250 l/min — ATEX Zone 2 | ALU
- Air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump, ATEX Zone 2 certified — no electrical ignition source in the fluid zone
- Aluminium housing — matched internal configuration for solvents, fuels, oils and non-aqueous hydrocarbons
- Flow up to 250 l/min, viscosity up to 35,000 mPas, passes solids to 7.5 mm — 1¼" BSP connections
- Self-priming to 9.8 m wet suction lift — runs dry without damage, no mechanical seal
- Adjustable flow via air pressure (max. 8 bar) — requires no electrical supply or speed controller
The JP-810.250 is the first 1¼" model in the JP-810 ALU range — stepping up from 170 l/min to 250 l/min where the larger bore is needed for bulk transfer rates that 1" pipework cannot sustain. Housing is aluminium throughout, suited to solvents, fuels, oils and non-aqueous hydrocarbons. Stroke volume, solid passing and viscosity ceiling are shared with the 1" platform, but the larger port diameter removes the flow bottleneck in high-throughput operations. For the same throughput in PP, PVDF or stainless steel, see the JP-810.252.
Purpose
The AODD operating principle means compressed air alternates between two chambers, driving a pair of flexible diaphragms back and forth. No electric motor contacts the fluid zone — making the JP-810.250 inherently safe for flammable and explosive media classified for ATEX Zone 2. The pump is fully self-priming, can run dry without damage and handles media containing suspended solids up to 7.5 mm. For applications involving high-viscosity media that require pre-heating before transfer, the pump pairs well with a HeatXperts drum heater to reduce viscosity to pumpable levels.
ALU housing — application range
The ALU housing is suited to solvents, fuels, oils and non-aqueous hydrocarbons — media that are incompatible with polymer housings (PP or PVDF) but where stainless steel is unnecessary or cost-prohibitive. The standard internal configuration uses an NBR/Santoprene diaphragm with stainless steel seats. Contact us for configuration advice specific to your medium and operating conditions. For highly aggressive aqueous media, oxidising acids or applications requiring PP, PVDF or stainless steel housing at the same flow rate, see the JP-810.252.
Key features
- AODD operating principle — no electrical components in the fluid path, inherently safe for flammable media
- Dry-running capable — no mechanical seal, no damage if air supply continues with empty chamber
- Self-priming — pulls liquid from 5 m dry or 9.8 m wet suction lift without manual priming
- Passes solids to 7.5 mm — large-bore ball-check design handles heavily loaded or slurry media
- Adjustable flow and delivery head via inlet air pressure — no frequency inverter required
- Non-lubricated air operation — no oil separator required in the air supply line
- Separable manifold — allows two different media to be pumped simultaneously
- Easy field maintenance — modular design, standardised spare parts kit available

Typical media — ALU housing
- Solvents, fuels and hydrocarbons — non-aqueous media compatible with aluminium
- Mineral oils, lubricants, hydraulic fluids and gear oils
- Aromatic and aliphatic solvents (toluene, xylene, hexane)
- Kerosene, diesel fuel and heating oil
- Paints, varnishes and thinners in production environments
Applications
- High-throughput solvent and fuel transfer from bulk tanks and road tankers — where 1" connections limit flow rate
- Production-rate emptying of large-format IBCs and bulk storage vessels of hydrocarbons and oils
- Transfer of viscous hydrocarbon media including heavy oils, resins and bitumen precursors at high volume
- Slurry and suspended-solids handling at elevated flow rates — 7.5 mm passing diameter
- Offshore and petrochemical operations requiring sustained high-flow ATEX-certified transfer
- Paint and coating production — large-volume supply of thinners, solvents and binders at production rate
Operational Requirements
- Air supply must be clean, dry and non-lubricated — do not use lubricated air (damages internal seals)
- Inlet air pressure must not exceed 8 bar — operating above rated pressure reduces diaphragm life
- Can be run dry without damage — no minimum flow requirement
- Ensure fluid connection piping is adequately supported — do not use the pump housing as a pipe anchor
- If the pump is stalled (air on, no flow), the diaphragm is under constant load — avoid prolonged stall conditions
- Verify chemical compatibility for aluminium for the specific medium and temperature before commissioning
